Toudonou asked if I could help him find computers for a computer lab he wants to
start for his former high school. We decided to try to raise money for
this and purchase the equipment locally as opposed to shipping over used
equipment. I don't have very many email addresses so please forward this
on to all other Benin-RPCVs that you can! I really appreciate all of your
help!

is a message from Yves about the project:
I had
been in that school for 7 years involved my self in many activities such
football, music, English club and theater and a very active alumni. The school
itself is well functioning with new buildings and grew up in size but we decided
to become members of the IT world which is necessary today for students. For
those of you knowing, I got a good training there and I become what I am today
from this school and the good teachers I had those days. Good trainer
I am, I
owe it from this school I thank all of you who will be willing to put a cent in
that project. Convey my love to all of them.

Below
is information about the project and cost breakdowns.
For many
years, developing countries have suffered from a lack of experience and training
in information and communication technologies.
Despite
a slow start, in the past years, Benin has made enormous efforts to bridge these
gaps and provide access to information technology to as many people as possible.
In this
dynamic environment, AECD (Association des Eleves du College Davie in Porto
Novo), in collaboration with Davié graduates of all levels, and a variety of
sponsors, wants to contribute to the training of students in information
technologies.
This
contribution will consist of providing the high school with two computer labs
furnished with 25 computers each and a complete internet and email system.
In order
to help future graduates of Davié High school, the technical team from the AECD
of International Relations and the Promotion of New Information and
Communication Technologies, initiated this project with high hopes for financial
contributions and a genuine
spirit
of volunteerism by everybody involved.
Indeed,
AECD would lie to thank everybody who helps assure a successful future for this
project.

The
Web-Site will create a better understanding of the AECD (Association des Eleves
du College Davie in Porto Novo), and through the AECD allow the High School Davié
to broaden its horizons.
