Hi Chris,
Thanks for the time you've taken to put together your site. My daughter
Sara leaves for Benin as a PCV on Sept. 23rd and I've been reading what
I can about her country. Your writing has been of great interest, has
helped me see what life will be like for her. Thank you so much for
telling us about Benin.

As a soon-to-be-PCV leaving for Benin in 2 weeks, I was THRILLED to find
your site. Thanks for taking the time to share of your experiences and
for increasing the confidence of this slightly-apprehensive
volunteer....

I went on Canada World Youth Quebec-Benin 2000-01 and spent time in
Allada. Your website brought back so many memories, and made me laugh,
specially the Yovo Yovo Bonsoir song, (it also drove me crazy) Thanks
for the Fon stuff, I had learned some but now I can brush up if I go
back.

Salut Chris,

Awesome website! I'm a student that will be participating in a 7 month
exchange program, where I'll be spending half that time in Benin doing
volunteer work. Your website was well put together, although I'd still
like some additional info on the Fon language - anyone know if there's
any dictionaries or grammar resources out there? If so, let me know

Kou do azo! That is a great initiative that would get more people to
certainly know more on that wonderful place in Africa. I am copying the
url of your site to most people so that they would know more about Benin
and visit it and get inspired as well!

time on this and it looks great. If you ever want to exchange stories

Congratulations to this beautiful Homepage!
I just have some comments to add: The Benin Kingdom in southern Nigeria
is populated by Edo people, the Ibo live more in the east and they are
not organised in a kingdom like that. When Dahomey changed its name to
Benin the government had to seek for approval by the Oba (king) of the
Benin Kingdom in Nigeria! The word Dahomey originally also derives from
an edo name of a conquerer that was sent by the oba and even reached
togo, where the present president Yadema is still of edo origin!

I really like your website. Thankyou for making Benin seem close in this
way. Do you have a recipe for beancakes or 'yovo docos' (those doughnut
things)?

How are you doing? Thanks for the coins. I like your web site. Nana got
me here and we looked at some of your pictures. Thanks for the dough for
my First Communion too. Nice sound effects with Nestor and Maxine. I
think Maxine is saying "Hello Meow" Do I win the prize? I
think Nestor is saying "Get out of here"

I want to alert everyone to a new album by a Beninese artist. The album
is KALETA JAA.The artist,KALETA,successfully marries traditional African
Rhythms with danceable pop/r&b sounds accessible to International
audiences.
There are soundclips of some of the songs on cdbaby.com as well as some
information about the artist and his considerable credentials.

My 10-year-old son and I had a great time learning some Fon. Being able
to hear it spoken is great. This is very valuable to anyone considering
visiting Benin, I would think (sure feels so to me!). Merci.

You really do have a nice website, I really like it. I have been in
Benin twice, first time for almost two months. I have worked for a NGO
in Bopa/ Lobogo, the region Mono. The other time I was in Benin, was
last summer with a friend of mine. We have been to Bopa/Lobogo to see
some friends and we have travelled around Benin, Togo and Ghana.
I asked the word 'congratulations' in Fon for the friend I have
travelled with. She has to go to a wedding of a Beninese couple, here in
the Netherlands. She wanted to know how to write 'congratulations' on
the card. And maybe I can use it an other day. I still have contact with
a Beninese friend. In Bopa/ Lobogo they speak Sahouè, but it looks like
Fon (a bit) and the Beninese friend I am talking about, does speak Fon
also. He has send me a book in Fon to learn the language... So if you
are looking for a word (that you don't know yet) you can ask me. Maybe
it's in the book.
Edabo!

Hi D,
I'm not up to date on Angelique's tour schedule. I checked Kim's Oremi
Forever Website which she updated on Tuesday and she had the venue for
this concert listed as unknown. You may want to contact Kim at http://www.angelfire.com/ak3/oremiforever/angelique.html
for more info. If anyone knows it would be Kim.

I was in Benin from 1997 to 1999 with the Peace Corps. I lived in Come
and was good friends with Brian Naulty and James Rosoff. I spent many
hours in your house with your dog. Katy lived in Ouidah for a year. We
named our dog here in the US Kwabo. He enjoyed your recording of
"Kwabo." This is an amazing website that brings back great
memories. We especially felt nostalgic about the Yovo song.

Chris:
Hello, how are you doing ?
I was just watching last Sunday a documentary on tv about Benin (www.globetrekker.com).
I was watching it for about two hours. It was about a girl who went
there and spent sometime mixed with the locals there. It was amazing.
I've always been fascinated by traveling to Asia, Africa. Then I became
more interested on Benin and started looking for something on the net. I
tried some sites and then yours> I just started looking at the
pictures, become more interested and kept looking for a while. I was
amazed, I rellly loved the site. I saved it on my favorites and will
make sure to read all the stories you issued there.
I have some friends all over the world, some due to the internet, some
others from time ago, by letter, when the internet was not known. I am
interested in writing to you and exchange some experiences. I live in
Mexico, in the border with Texas. So if you do not mind, write back
please. Congratulations on your site, It is one of the best I've seen
!!! Keep it up
Hope to hear from you soon !
Thanks for your attention to this e-mail
Alfredo
