We PC Benin- We Care for Our Volunteers- A great site put together by Rena Smith, a mother of a current Peace Corps Volunteer. The site serves a support group for friends and family of current Peace Corps Volunteers (PCV's) in Benin, as well as for the PCV's who have occasional access to the internet in Cotonou. Read about what current PCV's are doing and get general information about Benin. The group maintains contact through Yahoo Groups list server. If you have a loved one in the Peace Corps in Benin, then this group is for you!

The Peace Gallery- A collection of pictures submitted from different Peace Corps Volunteers dedicated to showing positives of developing nations. University of Laval's Benin List Server- This is a very active list server comprised of about 250 people. Most are Beninese expatriates living in Africa, Europe, US, and, Canada. Most messages are in French and topics are frequently about current events in and issues relating to Beninese expatriates. I find it quite interesting. I subscribe to the digest which sends me all the messages posted for the day as attachments in one message.

A couple of Peace Corp Volunteers just finished their web site about Benin
Tourism and it is very helpful for anyone wanting to come and
visit! It is pretty descriptive and more importantly accurate
about prices. Since there are no fixed prices anywhere it is pretty
helpful in bargaining while traveling.
AfricaInfo.com- A site giving news and other information about Benin. Is in French. The graphic of all the sky scrapers is not of Benin. When I was there last (three years ago), there were only 2 or 3 buildings over 10 stories high in Cotonou. The site includes a copy of Benin's constitution as well as a phone book for Benin.

Information on Voodoo in French A Website Dedicated to Candomblé- a religion derived from Voodoo. Its roots are in Benin so this site talks a lot about Benin, Allada, the Fon people and of course Voodoo from Benin. The only problem is that this site is in Portuguese. Translate it using Altavista Babel Fish. Mami Wata.Com- - This site is about Mami Wata, a Voodoo God worshiped in Benin and Togo, as well as many other aspects of Voodoo. The site give much information about other Voodoo gods as well. This is a great site but it is graphics intensive and many pages are long, so they are slow to download.
